Terms of Service
Legal version: 2026-05-03
These Terms of Service govern your use of Triangulate, including the website, app, events, gameplay features, leaderboards, and related services. By using Triangulate, you agree to these terms.
1. What Triangulate is
Triangulate is a team-based map game. Each team has three player slots. A slot can be filled by an At home player, an Outside player, or an AI player.
At home players move by tapping the map. Outside players move using live device location. AI players are computer-controlled players provided by Triangulate.
The main way to start a game is Play Triangulate. The lobby lets players build a team with Invite friends, Find teammate, Add AI, and Enemy: Local | Country | Global | AI.
2. Children and parents
Children may use Triangulate only with permission from a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether a child may play Outside.
Outside play uses live location and may involve real-world movement. Children should be supervised appropriately when playing Outside.
3. Playing At home
At home players move by tapping the map. At home movement may be route-limited, speed-limited, and path-constrained. At home players must not automate movement, exploit bugs, teleport freely, or control another player's marker.
4. Playing Outside
Outside players move using live device location.
To play Outside, you must:
- have permission to use the device location features;
- enable the required location permissions;
- use Precise Location where required;
- play in a safe and lawful place;
- stay aware of your surroundings;
- obey local laws and rules;
- avoid roads, traffic, dangerous areas, restricted areas, and private property;
- stop playing if it is unsafe to continue.
Triangulate may block or pause Outside play if GPS is unavailable, inaccurate, unstable, or appears to be manipulated.
5. Real-world safety
Triangulate is a game. It is not a safety guide, navigation service, emergency service, or instruction to enter any location.
You must not:
- trespass;
- enter unsafe places;
- enter restricted areas;
- play while driving;
- play while cycling in a way that distracts you;
- cross roads without care;
- ignore signs, barriers, weather, traffic, people, animals, or other real-world risks.
If the game map, route, arena, marker, or objective appears to direct you somewhere unsafe, do not go there.
6. Teams and arenas
A match uses one shared arena. If one or more friendly players choose Outside, the arena is based on the real-world area of the Outside player or players.
If multiple Outside players are too far apart to share one arena, the lobby may block match start and suggest that one player switches to At home.
If all friendly players are At home or AI, the match uses the host's selected area. Remote players and remote enemies may take part in that arena as At home players.
7. AI players and AI enemies
AI players are computer-controlled. AI players may fill friendly slots or enemy teams. Real enemy availability is not guaranteed, and AI enemy fallback may be offered.
8. Enemy teams
Enemy scope may be Local, Country, Global, or AI. A real enemy team may not always be available. If no real enemy is available, Triangulate may offer an AI enemy.
9. Unranked mixed play
Mixed play is unranked in this version.
This means mixed-play matches do not submit:
- leaderboard scores;
- public wins;
- public losses;
- streaks;
- public team statistics.
We may still record internal match information to test fairness, improve gameplay, fix bugs, and understand whether mixed play is working properly.
10. Fair play
You must play fairly. You must not:
- spoof GPS;
- fake location data;
- use modified clients;
- use unauthorised bots or scripts;
- exploit bugs;
- interfere with another player's device, account, or marker;
- use multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage;
- manipulate matchmaking;
- abuse invite codes;
- attempt to bypass role rules.
We may cancel a match, block a player from starting, remove match results, restrict features, or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to protect safety, security, or fair play.
11. Content and conduct
If you submit names, event notes, messages, feedback, or other content, you must have the right to share it and it must not be unlawful, abusive, misleading, or infringing. We may remove content or restrict access if we believe these terms are being breached.
12. Intellectual property
Triangulate, including its name, brand, website, app, game mechanics implementation, graphics, copy, software, and related materials, belongs to Triangulate or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit the service except as permitted by law or with written permission.
13. Events and third-party services
Events may be created, approved, updated, cancelled, or removed at our discretion. Event details can change because of safety, availability, moderation, weather, venue suitability, or operational reasons. You should check event details before travelling.
Triangulate uses third-party services for hosting, maps, analytics, email, app distribution, social media, and backend infrastructure. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and policies.
14. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of Triangulate at any time. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free.
15. Our responsibility
Triangulate is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from unsafe play, misuse of the service, third-party services, or events outside our reasonable control.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy policy explains how we collect and use information, including location, gameplay, analytics, and contact-form data.
17. Suspension and ending access
We may restrict, suspend, or end access where reasonably necessary to protect safety, security, fair play, the service, or other players.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date on this page or publish a new legal version. Continued use of Triangulate after changes means you accept the updated terms.
