Privacy Policy
Legal version: 2026-06-05
Triangulate is a team-based outdoor map game. Each team has three player slots. A player can take part as an outdoor real player, with AI support where available, or in solo practice.
This Privacy Policy explains how Ziv Lazar LTD collects and uses your personal data when you use Triangulate, and your rights under UK data protection law. That law includes the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
Outdoor players move using live device location. AI players are computer-controlled players that can fill friendly or rival slots. The personal data we collect depends on how you choose to play. We use live GPS only when a real player chooses to play Outdoors and gives consent for that role.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
The data controller for your personal data is Ziv Lazar LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, whose registered office is at 15 Crusoe Mews, London, N16 0BQ, United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, please use the privacy or support contact shown on the Triangulate website or in the app, or write to us at the registered office above.
2. What Triangulate is
Triangulate lets teams of three form triangles on a map. The main game entry is play a game. The lobby lets players invite friends, find teammates, add AI, and choose a rival type.
3. Children and family play
Triangulate is intended for a general audience and is not aimed at young children. Children should use Triangulate only with parent or guardian permission. Parents or guardians decide whether a child may play Outdoors.
We follow the Information Commissioner's Office Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code). In practice this means privacy-protective defaults, collecting only the data we need, keeping precise location switched off until a player chooses to play Outdoors, and not using designs that push users to share more data or weaken their privacy settings.
Triangulate does not knowingly create child-specific profiles, does not sell personal data, and does not use precise location for targeted advertising or for any automated profiling for marketing.
4. Information we collect
- Account and profile information: a randomly generated player ID, nickname, colour, recovery code, preferences, and consent records.
- Lobby and team information: team slots, invite code use, team colour, team name, ready state, blockers, AI usage, and rival choice.
- Location and movement information: outdoor live device location, location accuracy, timestamps, speed, direction, route data, and fair-play signals where needed.
- Gameplay information: match participation, round results, wins, duration, arena type, AI usage, rival type, solo practice activity, and unranked AI results.
- Content you submit: nicknames, event details, in-game messages, and feedback.
- Device information: device type, platform, app state, and diagnostics used for compatibility and stability.
- Analytics events: app events used to improve gameplay and reliability.
5. Our lawful bases and your consent for location
Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases to process your personal data:
- Consent: for processing your precise location data when you choose to play Outdoors. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract, or taking steps at your request: to provide the game, build teams, and run matches you ask to take part in.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent cheating and abuse, fix bugs, and improve gameplay and reliability, where this is not overridden by your rights. Where the law allows, this may include recognised legitimate interests such as detecting, preventing, and investigating crime and ensuring the security of our network and systems.
- Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law, including online safety and the handling of unlawful content.
We treat your precise location with particular care. In line with PECR, including Regulation 14 on the processing of location data, your location data is processed only with your consent and only to provide the value-added service of Outdoors play. We process it only to the extent, and for the duration, necessary to provide that service.
Your consent for location is specific and granular. It is given by a separate, deliberate action and is not bundled with your acceptance of the Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy. We never rely on pre-ticked boxes, silence, or inactivity as consent.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by turning off location access in your device settings, or by not playing Outdoors. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing that took place before you withdrew it. If you turn off location access, you may not be able to start or join outdoor games.
6. Account and profile information
We use profile information to identify your player marker, save preferences, recover your profile, show your chosen name and colour, and keep consent records.
7. Lobby and team information
We use lobby and team information to build a team, invite friends, find teammates, add AI, choose Rival: Local | Country | Global | AI, check whether a match can start, and sync the same team state across devices.
8. Location and movement information
Outdoors:
- uses live device location;
- requires usable GPS;
- may require Precise Location, depending on your device;
- uses fair-play and safety checks;
- may be blocked if GPS quality is poor.
You can turn off location access in your device settings. If you do this, you may not be able to start or join outdoor games.
9. Outdoors role
If you play Outdoors, live device location is used while outdoor play is active. Outdoors players may require GPS, Precise Location, location accuracy, timestamps, speed, direction, route data, and fair-play signals.
Outdoor location data is used to place the player in the arena, move the player marker, check arena compatibility, check GPS quality, prevent cheating, and keep the match fair. We stop using your live location when outdoor play ends.
10. AI players
Triangulate may use AI players to fill empty friendly slots or rival teams.
AI players are computer-controlled. They do not represent a real person, and they do not have personal location data. AI movement is generated by the game using simulated road or path behaviour.
We may use AI players when a team has an empty slot, no real rival team is available, a player chooses to add AI, or a match needs an AI fallback.
11. Gameplay information
Games with AI players and solo practice are unranked in this version. They do not submit leaderboard scores, public wins, public losses, streaks, or public team statistics.
Internal analytics may still be used to test fairness, improve gameplay, fix bugs, and monitor safety.
12. Automated decisions and anti-cheat
To keep play fair and safe, we run automated checks on location-quality and gameplay signals, for example to detect GPS spoofing, impossible movement, or abuse. These checks may automatically pause your play, freeze your marker, block a match start, or remove a result.
We carry out this processing because it is necessary to provide a fair game and to protect players. Where a solely automated decision produces a significant effect on you, you have the right to be told about it, to ask for a person to review it, to express your point of view, and to contest it. To do so, contact us using the details in this policy.
13. Device and technical information
Internet connectivity is required for multiplayer sessions, lobby and team matching, events, operational diagnostics, and app reliability. We may collect device type, platform, app state, crash or diagnostic information, and network quality signals.
14. In-game content and online safety
If you submit nicknames, event details, messages, or feedback, we process that content to operate those features and to keep the service safe. As an online service, we may review, moderate, remove, or restrict content and accounts, and may report unlawful content or conduct to the authorities, in order to comply with our online-safety duties and to protect users, especially children.
Messages sent to other players during a match are shared with the players in that match. Do not share personal or sensitive information you do not want other players to see.
15. Who can see your location or movement
During a match, other players in the same match may see your player marker on the game map. This can include your teammates and rival players.
If you play Outdoors, your player marker is based on your live device location while outdoor play is active.
For normal gameplay, we do not collect account email addresses or parent or guardian contact details. If you contact us separately for support, we use those contact details for support and do not show them to other players.
16. How we use location to create an arena
A match takes place in one arena.
Outdoor matches use the real-world area of the outdoor player or players. If more than one outdoor player is on the team, we check whether those players are close enough to share one arena.
Solo practice uses a local practice arena and does not submit ranked results.
17. How we use your information
We use information to provide the game, build teams, sync lobbies, move player markers, create arenas, match rivals, provide AI fallback, show game state, run unranked AI and solo play, improve gameplay, fix bugs, monitor safety, prevent cheating, moderate content, and operate events and support.
18. Who we share information with, and international transfers
Triangulate uses trusted service providers for hosting, databases, maps and place data, analytics, app distribution, and operational support. These providers process data on our behalf as our processors, under contracts that require appropriate safeguards, and they are not permitted to sell your precise location to advertisers.
Some of our providers are based outside the United Kingdom. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we do so only where there is an adequacy decision, an International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard recognised under UK data protection law, so that your data remains protected.
19. How long we keep information
Gameplay and profile data may be retained while your profile is active. Consent records are retained so we can show which legal version was accepted. We keep location data only as long as needed to provide and check Outdoors play, and then delete or anonymise it in line with our retention practices.
20. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data;
- restrict or object to our processing;
- ask for portability of certain data;
- not be subject to a solely automated decision that has a significant effect on you, and to ask for human review of such a decision;
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent, including for location.
You can change app permissions in your device settings at any time. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details above. When you make a request, we will carry out a reasonable and proportionate search for your data and respond within the time limits set by law.
You can also reset your data from within the app at any time. In Profile, open Settings and use the reset control to clear the profile and other information stored on your device, and start again with a clean profile.
If you have a concern, you have the right to complain to us directly, and we will acknowledge your complaint and look into it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk, although we would welcome the chance to address your concerns first.
